Golden Hill State Park - Camping, Sunset and Sunrise
My stay at Golden Hill State Park was a serendipity. I was looking for a place to camp for the night as part of my road trip on the scenic byway The Great Lakes Seaway Trail, detouring for lighthouses, beaches, parks, and other treasures on the road.
Thirty Point Mile Lighthouse is part of the park, a historic lighthouse listed in the National Register of Historic Places
The park has a small, but well-spaced and quiet, campground. It has both electric and non-electric sites. And yurts! Yurts are wood lattice framed structures with heavy duty re-enforced fabric sides and insulated liners. They have windows, a domed roof and wood floors. The yurts at Golden Hill sleep 6 people and have 2 sets of bunk beds and a futon that pulls out into a full sized bed. The yurts also include a refrigerator and a microwave. This would be a nice camping experience for families and groups who do not prefer to stay in tents. And if you want a more luxurious stay in the camp, you may rent the Lighthouse cottage.
I camped in a tent-only site, close to the lighthouse and the lake, and was blessed with a serene sunset, followed by beautiful sunrise the next day in an isolated place in the park I stumbled upon when I did an early nature walk.

Golden Hill State Park is a nice place to go to if you want to have some quiet moments, away from the chaos of the city, alone or with friends and families. And sometimes, that is all you need.
